QUIET TIME
An all day to late night cafe. The all stop shop and home to Skylab radio who inevitably soundtrack the 24 hours you could spend there.
A humble space that has every right not to be. Welcoming and familiar, almost everything inside has been specially crafted.
A bespoke fabricated door by Old Four Legs in need of 4 made to fit glass panels. A bridge between the indoors and out, to balance the two so each has a little of the other.
The glass panels needed added strength with minimal aesthetic intervention. To have included the usual bold lines of leadlightighting felt unnecessary with the already carefully considered lines of the frame.
Enter lamination. A technique used to create much of the safety glass we commonly interact with (think shop fronts).
By laminating coloured and textured glass onto clear toughened glass a leadlight sans lead lines is created. Allowing strength and structure with subtle pattern that lets its frame speak loudest.
Glass that changes with its venue, no matter the hour.
